Fat Danny: News
Hoochie Mama Hits the Streets!! - July 15, 2008
After over 18 months of hard work, Fat Danny's long awaited CD, “Hoochie Mama”, is released.
“Hoochie” takes us on a voyage of discovery into the mind and life of Fat Danny. From a reminiscence of Danny's first guitar to a scathing commentary on our current uncertain economic times, nothing escapes the bull’s-eye of Danny's worldview and guitar.
“Hoochie Mama” is the 4th CD from the prolific pen of Fat Danny. Guest artists include Bonnie Pointer of the Pointer Sisters, the beautiful voices of Black Cadence, ace saxman Jeff Ackerman, and the 88 ivories of Chicago's Grooveyard Letchinger.
David Williams of Melrose Music Studios returns to lend his considerable expertise to record, mix, and master this new release.
“Hoochie Mama” is on Jack’s Blues Shack Records and is available at

If you liked “Life Behind the 8 Ball”, we think you’re going to love Hoochie Mama. It’s more of the unique Fat Danny take on the Blues with a couple of interesting twists. If you like an adult portion (warning Adult lyrics!) of the Blues with a good dose of bad-a** attitude, this CD is for you.

New CD in the Works - March 8, 2008
Winter is our performance downtime and we have been taking the opportunity to work on our new CD. It will consist of eleven brand new songs from the pen and fertile mind of Fat Danny. We are breaking into some new territory here and tryingsome new sounds and compositions, while staying true to our Blues roots.
This isn't going to be one of those do-it-yourself on a computer, homemade bedroom CD's that are so common these days. It's the real deal, professionally recorded, mixed, mastered, and duplicated by the best in the business.
We have completed all the tracking at Melrose Music Studios in Hollywood and are now in the mixing stage in the capable hands of David Williams who did such a fine job on "Life Behind the 8 Ball".
We were fortunate to have David's expertise and his collection of vintage microphones and analog equipment to record this CD. David blends the modern digital medium with the "old skool" techniques to give us the best of both worlds.
We have enlisted the help of reedman, Jeff Ackerman on tenor and alto sax, as well as the talented vocal duo Black Cadence to add their sweet inspirational harmonies to the new CD.
The CD probably be released in late spring or early summer. We'll keep you in the loop. We are toying with the idea of a CD release party at a venue to be determined, possibly the Mint in LA or Cozy's in the Valley. This would require that we presell a number of tickets, possibly including a dinner before the show. This is in the planning stages and we would like to hear if there is any interest in this before we proceed any further.
Well, that's it for now. We hope you are all well and happy and we are looking forward to seeing you again when the gigging season starts up in the Spring.
Highest Bluesical Regards,
Fat Danny
and Hard Tymz

HOW COME YOU GUYS SOUND BETTER THAN OTHER BANDS?? - February 15, 2007
The answer is simple.
It's easy for a musician to get tunnel vision and just focus on their own amp or instrument.
A long time ago we realized that from the audience's perspective, the total sound of the band depends on the amplification and mix of the voices and individual instruments.
This winter we have made a sizable investment in a Yamaha professional Sound Reinforcement system with 1000 watts of stereo amplification, 2 separate sophisticated effects engines, 15" 2-way Club V speakers, self powered Electro Voice stage monitors, and a variety of specialized microphones designed to accurately capture our instrumental and vocal sounds.
This system didn't come cheap, and it's way beyond the commitment of your average "week-end warrior" bar band.
We appreciate the loyalty of our fans. If you make the effort to come to one of our gigs, it's the least we can do to give you the best entertainment experience possible.
